Diaper Ministry
The Racine Diaper Ministry was started by Jean Gobeli in April 2017 at Trinity UMC, which is now North Pointe UMC, to help eliminate diaper needs in Racine County for low-income families.
A nationwide study conducted by the National Diaper Bank Network and Huggies reveals that more that one in three families surveyed reported struggling with diaper needs in 2017. The average household was short 19 diapers each month.
In the first year, the ministry handed out more that 4,340 diapers to 226 babies and toddlers. In the second year more than 6,350 diapers were given to 332 babies and toddlers.
The Diaper Ministry is open every Monday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Erie Campus of North Pointe United Methodist Church.
It offers diapers in sizes from newborn to size 7 and pull-ups in 2T through 5T. People receiving diapers for the first time need to show the child’s birth certificate, confirmation of a current address, such as a utility bill, and a photo ID.
Donations may be made to North Pointe UMC with Diapers written in the memo. For any questions call the church office at 262-639-2441.
